We Sponsor the following Annual District-wide programs

An Annual Widows Luncheon to honor the spouses of deceased Masons. It takes place at a local party house. Contact the Service Bureau for details and a Lodge secretary for tickets.

An Interfaith Service and Brunch recently has been held at the Damascus Shrine Center. Masonic Service Bureau personnel and Organization Secretaries have tickets. No event is planned for 2011.

A Distinguished Community Service Award is generally presented annually to an individual who has exceptionally served the local community. It is open to everyone in the community. Service to the community is the sole criteria for being judged. A committee, headed by the Service Bureau Vice President, seeks out worthy candidates, gathers pertinent information, and decides on a nominee. The Board of Directors votes to approve the recipient. Suggested names should be forwarded to the Service Bureau office.

Special Grants

The Service Bureau awards several thousand dollars each year to local organizations which offer community programs for the needy. Some of these agencies or programs include meals, temporary housing for the homeless, hospice care, clothing and programs for seniors.

Specifically, money is granted to organizations that provide direct support to individuals.

To apply for grant monies, agencies are encouraged to contact the Service Bureau as early each year as possible. The Board of Directors votes approval of fund distribution that is made mid-year by theService Bureau's Charity Committee.
